GZK Dance Call – What’s your global Shout-out 2020?

In November 2020, we organized an online dance project connecting Germany and Uganda. The Dance Call took place in cooperation with the German Embassy Kampala, addressing German and Ugandan urban dancers to come up with a catchy video of 1 minute presenting their global shout-out for 2020. Until 9^th November dancers had time to submit their video (1 Ugandan, 1 German) and to take part in this project. The Jury team of professional dancers Catherine Nakawesa, Ricky Orenia and Ken Martin had rated all videos. The three first prices were distributed to the following teams: first price Maike Mohr & Jamal Da, second price Naggita Martha & Janine Geier, and third price Natalie Schäfer & Ronnieval Kisapenne. In the end of November an online event took place awarding the Dance Call winners, talking about their background experiences of the video production and discussing the state of urban dance in Germany and Uganda in times of COVID-19. All creatives, performing artists and interested people were invited to join the online conversation.
