This German-French project was a cooperation project between Alliance Francaise de Kampala and Goethe-Zentrum Kampala. It was mainly funded by the Elysée Fond of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Besides the German and French cultural institutions, the German and French Embassy and the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung Uganda & South Sudan were part of the conceptualization of this project with a series of events: film screenings regarding flight and migration in the framework of the French Cine-Club and the German Movie Night, a panel discussion at Makerere University with the topic “Are refugees economic actors or a burden to host countries?” organized by Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung and the exhibition “Open Doors: Encounters in Bidibidi and Kampala”. The exhibition showed photos from 8 Ugandan photographers, the French photographer Anne A-R and the German photographer Anne Ackermann.  Anne A-R also conducted a workshop in the refugee camp Bidibidi in Northern Uganda.
