Ngalabi Festival Program 2024

We are pleased to unveil our three day festival program,6th to 8th September 2024. According to the festival curator, Joel Tugaineyo, “Day one celebrates the boundless imagination of our inner child and its infinite capacity to change the world for good or ill with dark fairytales like Patience Nitumwesiga’s ‘Jangu’ and coming-of-age epics like Raymond Malinga’s Disney animated short, ‘Herderboy’.”

“Day two explores the mysterious depths of the human psyche, delving into the full spectrum of emotions—loneliness, grief, desire, and longing—that define our shared human experience with psycho-rom-coms like Esther Buekes’ ‘Miss Understood’ and contemplative animated dramas like Mary Josephine Namirembe’s ‘Fractured’.”

“Day three closes us out with a feast for the senses with an exhilarating blend of thrills, action, drama, and comedy guaranteed to ignite your cinematic taste buds. They include the literal stomach-churning feast in Denzel Maniple Everd’s thriller, ‘Let’s Eat’, and the comedy of A.I. romance in Alisanyukirwa Joy Matovu’s ‘Insanity’.”

The festival will end with a celebration where Ugandan artist, Elijah Kitaka will perform many of his hit songs: Dawa, Nothing, Touch & Continue, among others. DJ Breezy will be on the decks serenading the people.
