We are thrilled to unveil the program for the Kampala Writes Litfest 2024, taking place on December 7th and 8th! Over two days, the festival will feature captivating panel discussions, engaging workshops, and an array of entertainment celebrating Uganda’s rich literary and creative heritage.

Curator Goretti Kyomuhendo describes the festival as “a platform for writers and book professionals to engage, showcase their work, and forge connections.” With the theme “Writing Our Truths: Commemorating Ugandan Literature,” the event will present vibrant panels, writing workshops, storytelling sessions, and live performances. Discussions will address key topics such as contemporary literary trends, short story conventions, challenges in publishing, memoir writing, copyright protection, and cultivating a love for reading among young audiences.

And a discussion on book publishing, marketing, and distribution in Uganda, moderated by Crystal Rutangye-Bazirake. The day concludes with a screening of the Ugandan short film Mawe! and a lively DJ set by DJ Nach.
