Skillz East Africa Breakdance Battle

The Skillz East Africa is an annual breaking Championship that demonstrates the uniqueness of a multi cross cultural expression of dance across the different generations of female and male dancers in the Sub-Saharan African region, the championship is an embodiment of diversity as they are set to bring together breakers and dancers (10 – 35 years) from various parts of the region to compete against the best in region. We are part of this amazing breakdance battle since 2020!

This year’s Championships 2022 “My City , my culture” was a two-day event that attracted over 300 dancers across the regions of Uganda and invited guest teams from Kenya, Rwanda and The Democratic Republic of Congo, who competed in the breaking categories, performed and showcased as both groups and individuals happening at Ndere Cultural Centre.

The event also featured guest showcases from rappers, beatboxers, Acrobatics and a live mural painting by Alex Page from the Abalibawo HipHop foundation.

The Skillz East Africa Breaking winners included: Bboy Lucas – top 8 Bboy Category, Bgirl Anna – top 8 Bgirl category and Bboy Bunju – Top 8 Kids battle.
