In April we hosted over 20 film makers and enthusiasts for the screening of Yuhi Amuli`s short film ‘A Taste of Our Land‘ at the GZK rooftop.

Yuhi Amuli is a film director, producer, and screenwriter from Rwanda. His directorial debut feature film A TASTE OF OUR LAND (2020) premiered at the Pan African Film Festival in Los Angeles and won the Jury Award for Best First Narrative Feature Film. The film went on to screen at various other film festivals worldwide, winning the African Movie Academy Awards (2020) for Best First Feature Film. His second feature film CITIZEN KWAME (2023) won the award for Best Cinematic Treatment at the Luxor African Film Festival 2023. He is an alumnus of Berlinale Talents (2021) and Toronto Filmmaker Lab (2020). His next film EXODUS is currently in development.

After the screening, there was a panel discussion hosted by Tutu Tusiime, a multimedia journalist and content creator. The panel consisted of Yuhi Amuli and distinguished Ugandan actor Michael Wawuyo Snr, the lead character in the film. The conversation centered on exploitation of the indigenous people, corruption, making of the film and how to get into character. It was a captivating discussion that ended with a meet and greet.
