CALL FOR A CAFETERIA OPERATOR

Invitation:
Alliance Française de Kampala / Goethe Zentrum Kampala do hereby solicit competitive
offers to run a Cafeteria at their premises located at Plot 52, Bukoto Street (Kamwokya) as
indicated below:

Part 1. INTRODUCTION
About Alliance Française de Kampala / Goethe Zentrum Kampala
-Alliance française de Kampala is a non-profit Ugandan association dedicated to the
promotion of French language training and the exchange of francophone and Ugandan
cultures in the region.
-Goethe –Zentrum Kampala is a non-political and non-profit organisation (Cultural
Society) whose tasks consist in the promotion of German-Ugandan relationships and in
the building of a platform for he intercultural dialogue in Kampala and with other African
countries through language teaching and cultural activities.
The two offer language classes to roughly 5000 students per year and receive around 3000
guests who attend meetings, workshops and other cultural programmes within our
premises.

We are seeking for an external supplier to operate the outdoor eatery from
January 2025.

Part 2. Terms of Reference for the Cafeteria Operator
1.1 The scope of this call for a Cafeteria operator is to provide quality services for our
clients/students and staff in an effective and friendly manner.
1.2 . Services to be provided:
-snacks, tea/coffee, drinks ( juices, sodas, beers) for staff, students and walk in clients in
an amiable and clean atmosphere (from Monday to Saturday).
-remain open at cultural events but would not have exclusivity as a service provider

1.3 . The prospective supplier should be in position to provide all necessary equipment as
required to operate the Cafeteria.
1.5. The prospective supplier must have practical experience in operating a café.
1.6. The prospective supplier is expected to have the capacity to serve snacks and drinks at
cultural events/meetings etc…
1.7. Ensure general hygiene and cleanliness of his/her working station
1.8. The engagement will commence with a 6 months’ probation agreement before signing
a one year contract that will be renewable at the end of each contract year.

Part 3. Specific Requirements/experience
3.1. The prospective supplier must have a licence that allows him/her to operate a cafeteria
under the Ugandan law.
3.2. The prospective supplier is expected to attach a price list of the snacks/drinks. It
should be detailed with prices in Ugandan Currency.
3.3. The supplier is expected to disclose information about his/her current address and
documents that will enable the AFK/GZ to assess him/her in terms of quality and
compliance with information submitted.

Part 4. Rent and financial Obligations
The Alliance Française de Kampala / Goethe Zentrum Kampala will require the supplier to
do basic renovations to the premises in exchange for a 6 months waiver on financial
obligations, apart from utility payments.
