Uganda German Cultural Society (UGCS) - Code of Conduct
1. Mutual Respect and Dignity All members shall treat fellow members, guests, and the general public with respect, courtesy, and dignity regardless of race, ethnicity, religion, gender, age, disability, or social status. Harassment, discrimination, bullying, or any form of intimidation will not be tolerated.
2. Legal Compliance Members must comply with all applicable local, national, and international laws and regulations in all society activities and representations. Any illegal activity conducted in the name of or during society functions is strictly prohibited.
3. Adherence to Internal Policies All members are required to familiarize themselves with and adhere to the society's constitution, by-laws, policies, and procedures. Ignorance of society rules does not excuse non-compliance.
4. Integrity and Ethical Conduct Members shall conduct themselves with honesty and integrity at all times. Engagement in fraud, forgery, misrepresentation, embezzlement, or any other dishonest practices is grounds for immediate disciplinary action or expulsion.
5. Protection of Institutional Reputation Members must refrain from any conduct or activity that may bring disrepute, harm, or negative publicity to the society. This includes inappropriate behavior on social media, public forums, or any platform where the member may be associated with the society.
6. Conflict of Interest Declaration Members must promptly disclose any actual, potential, or perceived conflict of interest that may arise in society matters, including but not limited to financial interests, personal relationships, or external affiliations that could influence their judgment or decisions.
7. Financial Accountability and Transparency All financial transactions must be conducted transparently and in accordance with established financial policies. Members handling society funds must maintain accurate records and be prepared to account for all financial activities upon request.
8. Confidentiality and Data Protection Members shall respect the confidentiality of sensitive society information and personal data of other members. Unauthorized disclosure, misuse, or breach of confidential information is prohibited and may result in disciplinary action.
9. Cultural Sensitivity and Inclusivity Members shall promote and celebrate cultural diversity while being sensitive to different cultural practices, beliefs, and traditions. Activities should be inclusive and welcoming to all, avoiding cultural appropriation or any practices that may offend or marginalize any group.
