We embarked on a captivating journey into the heart of Ugandan media during our Cultural Journalism Round-table on February 27th 2024! Teaming up with Media Challenge Initiative and DW Akademie, we delved deep into the nexus of journalism and culture at the MCI Media Hub, Tirupati Mazima Rooftop.

Our esteemed panel, led by moderator Andrew Mayiga Kaggwa, arts and culture reporter and critic, featured insightful contributions from Dr. Emilly Comfort Maractho, an esteemed academic and media scholar, Faisal Kiwewa, the visionary founder and artistic director of Bayimba Foundation, and Carol Kagezi, a seasoned writer and broadcaster.

The dialogue was rich and multifaceted, as our panelists expertly navigated various dimensions of journalism such as how to communicate effectively, language and how it is used, manner of engagement, accountability, politics and creativity. We had an engaged audience whose inquiries were answered with finesse by our capable panelists.

As the discussion drew to a close, Faisal Kiwewa underscored the pivotal role of research in journalism, emphasizing the importance of delivering accurate information to readers.
