Ngalabi Short Film Festival 2026

We are excited to announce the program for the 10th edition of the Ngalabi Short Film Festival!

The festival will kick off with live script readings, offering audiences an opportunity to experience new Ugandan stories in their raw form as actors bring these scripts to life. Next, we partnered with VJ Emmy to bring the kibanda experience to the GZK basement. This event will feature live translations that make the viewing experience come to life in an exciting new way.

For the first time, we are thrilled to announce the screening of a feature film: the acclaimed Tanzanian film Vuta N’Kuvute (Tug of War) will have its first public screening in Uganda. This film, based on the award-winning novel of the same name, will be accompanied by a masterclass on Book to Film Adaptation led by director Amil Shivji. We will conclude the week with our main event: two days of stunning short film screenings at the Acacia Mall cinema, followed by an epic party to celebrate our 10-year journey.
